Introduction

Advertisers use more than words alone to persuade you to do something.  Images are very important in making a television commercial or magazine ad more effective.

 
 

Assignment

You must first print out the following pages.  You will look at both cigarette ads and anti-smoking ads.   Then, select one of each, print it out and paste it to your paper worksheet.  Finally, answer some questions about how the creators of each ad used images to help persuade readers.

Paste the Ads

On the website where you found your chosen ad, click on the ad and hold down the mouse button until a small window appears.  Then select "copy image" from the window.  Open Microsoft Word, and select a new document.  Then, select paste, which will paste the picture in the Word document.  Repeat this process to copy and paste a second ad.  Next, click on the print button to print out the pictures.  Finally, cut out the advertisements and paste them in the space below.
