This WebQuest was created to support the fourth grade Social Studies Unit on Maryland.
The goals of this activity are to integrate applications of technology into student learning activities, help students to use technology appropriately, and improve student learning as measured by assessments.
The parts of a WebQuest parallel the Dimensions of Learning.
The Maryland Learner Outcomes are listed under Teacher
Resources with links to the Maryland State Department of Education.
Listed below are some suggestions you may want to consider.
1. All or parts of this activity may be used.
2. You may decide that cooperative groups will not work in your class.
3. Students must have a basic understanding
of how to navigate through cyberspace. They must be aware of the
BACK or GO buttons to get them back to the WebQuest.
4. This WebQuest is a task designed to utilize
electronic information on the Internet. Once the information is found,
the computer is not needed for remaining activities. Students may need
to revisit websites for confirmation of
information.
5. Students have many choices to make. They
are familiar with many different kinds of graphic organizers. This activity
would lend itself to a KWL chart, although this is not exclusive.
6. Teacher resource websites are from www.mdk12.org
. The sites direct you to specific pages at that URL. Additional
information at this site may be useful to your program.
7. I appreciate any comments on how to
make this a better activity. Please e-mail your suggestions.
This is my first
attempt at this!
