You will give advice to a family to help them plan their vacation. You have been very interested in learning about the many special places in Allegany County as you have studied about it in your social studies classes. Now, you can use your expert knowledge to help the family plan their vacation.

• Your task is to research important sites in Allegany and create a travel brochure.This brochure must be created for a family of four. Each member of the family has special interests. You must make sure there is something for each person in the family. You will use the knowledge about Allegany County that you have learned in social studies class, and information that you gain as you research important sites on the Internet.

There are many interesting sites that tell about places in Allegany County. You many want to start by looking at information about the C& O Canal. There are two museums in Allegany County that you can visit on the Internet. They are http://www.historyhouse.allconet.org and http://www.frostmuseum.allconet.org/ Take your time and read about these interesting locations.

Mother: She is interested in learning about antiques and how they were used in the past. She likes to visit museums.Father:  He likes to learn the history of different types of transportation. Brother:  He enjoys being in the outdoors. He likes to fish and ride his bike. Sister:  She wants to make a scrapbook of photographs.She enjoys taking photographs of historic sites and nature sites.

• Your brochure must show the family what they will see when they visit the location. Each site visited  must be of interest to one of the family members. Your team must make sure that each member of the family visits at least one site of interest to him.

• Your brochure must include:  colorful illustrations showing the sites, five facts about the site, correct spelling, grammar and language usage.

• You may fold a piece of paper in half to create your brochure. Make a title page and two inside pages. If you wish you may use the back of the brochure. If you would rather design your brochure with three folds, you may. This is the way many travel brochures are created by professional designers.
