Allegany County is famous for its historic sites and for its natural beauty. Many people like to come to Allegany County for a vacation. You are going to act as a travel agent. You will give advice to a family to help them plan their vacation. You have been very interested in learning about the many special places in Allegany County as you have studied about it in your social studies classes. Now, you can use your expert knowledge to help the family plan their vacation.

There are many interesting sites that tell about places in Allegany County. You many want to start by looking at information about the C& O Canal. There are two sites: http://www.nps.gov/choh and http:// www.canalplace.org/ After you read the information, take some notes to help you plan your travel brochure.
There are two museums in Allegany County that you can visit on the Internet. They are http://www.historyhouse.allconet.org and http://www.frostmuseum.allconet.org/ Take your time and read about these interesting locations.
The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is located at http://www.wmsr.com/ on the web. This is a good site to learn about transportation. Another site that will show you some information about historic traveling is the Thrasher Carriage Museum. Visit it at http://www.ci.frostburg.md.us/carriage.htm

1. Did I use the Internet to research my site?
2. Did I complete the matrix?
3. Does my brochure show at least four points of interest?
4. Did I proofread and edit my brochure?
5. Did each family member find a site of interest?
6. Is my brochure illustrated in a colorful way?
Conclusion
Using technology, you have visited
many Allegany County sites and acquired much information. Due to this,
you were able to create an informative brochure highlighting specific sites
in Allegany County. After learning about the history and beauty of Allegany
County, do you feel proud to be a citizen of Allegany County? Write a journal
entry to express your feelings and ideas.
